CARROT

The functions of Calcium

All this while, I know that Calcium with Magnesium help preserve bone structure, maintain heart beats and balance up blood cells. I did not know until I discovered then that it can stop my cough.

My cough was very acute at night. During the day, it only occurred sparingly. Meditation - cure without medicine or pills


My definition of meditation is relax yourself, put yourself at ease and release your tension. The process is
1. Sitting upright, you don't have to sit crossed-legs
2. Breathe in through your nose, breathe out through your mouth slowly but heavily 5 times
3. Whilst doing 2 above, focus and concentrate your eye sight to a point horizontaly in front of you
4. Then, close your eyes and breathe normally

Meditation does not have any link to any religion, although some religion require followers to practise it.

I, owner of this blog actually benefited from the practice of medition. I got rid of my joint pains caused by excessive urine acid. I suffered from this sickness for almost 10 years. The pain was not just at the knees. It was also at the shoulders, the knuckles, the neck , the elbows and at the backbone. You can imagine how I walked when the pain visited me. I literally dragged my feet along. When I drove my car, I had to use my hand to lift my leg for the brake. It is history now. I had got rid of it. It was about a year after my first try on meditation. I was meditating when I felt the acute pain on the joints, but at the same time I felt the heat at the joints. The pain and the heat made a sensational soothing feeling. This condition was there for about 2 - 3 minutes and then the pain and the heat were gone. Since then, the sickness never come back. It is 10 years now, no pain.

Swine Flu facts

The Health Ministry (MOH), Singapore yesterday released information on swine flu.

What is swine flu?

It is a respiratory disease affecting pigs that is caused by type A influenza virus. Most outbreaks occur during the late fall and winter months, similar to influenza outbreaks in humans.

Does it affect humans?

Swine flu viruses very rarely affect humans. However, sporadic human infections with swine flu have occurred. These cases commonly occur in people with direct exposure to pigs.

How does it spread to humans?

It spreads to humans mainly through contact with infected pigs.

Can people catch swine flu from eating pork?

There is currently no evidence to suggest that swine flu can be transmitted to humans from eating pork or pork products that have been thoroughly cooked.

What are the symptoms?

The symptoms of swine flu are similar to the symptoms of regular influenza. An early symptom is high fever, and this is followed by cough, sore throat, runny nose, and sometimes breathlessness a few days later.

How can the infections be diagnosed?

A respiratory specimen would be collected within the first four to five days of illness, when the infected person is most likely to be shedding the virus. However, some, especially children, may shed the virus for 10 days or longer.

What medications are available to treat the infection?

There are four different antiviral drugs that are licensed for use in Singapore: amantadine, rimantadine, oseltamivir and zanamivir.

While most swine flu viruses have been susceptible to all four drugs, the most recent swine flu viruses isolated from humans are resistant to amantadine and rimantadine. At this time, the US CDC recommends the use of oseltamivir (Tamiflu) or zanamivir (Relenza) for the treatment and/or prevention of infection with swine flu viruses.

What is MOH doing to ensure that the disease is not transmitted here?

A medical alert has been sent out to all medical practitioners and health-care institutions to update them on the outbreak of swine flu in the United States and Mexico.

When the situation warrants, MOH will step up public health measures, such as quarantine of contacts, issuing public health advisories, and working with other government agencies to screen visitors at Singapore's border checkpoints. MOH also has an influenza pandemic preparedness plan in the event of a pandemic situation.

Is it safe to visit countries with cases of swine flu and will I be quarantined when I return? What travel precautions should I take?

There are currently no travel restrictions or quarantine advised by the World Health Organisation. If you intend to travel to areas which have cases of swine flu, you should:

- Avoid contact with persons with symptoms of influenza

- Avoid crowded areas

- Observe good personal and environmental hygiene

- Maintain good body resistance

What should I do if I suspect I have swine flu after returning to Singapore?

You should consult your doctor immediately and inform the doctor that you had recently travelled to areas which have cases of swine flu.

What should I do if I fall ill overseas?

You should consult a doctor as soon as possible and refrain from travelling until you are certified fit by the doctor.

Does influenza vaccination help in preventing swine flu?

There is no vaccine to protect humans from swine flu. The seasonal influenza vaccine is unlikely to protect against H1N1 swine flu viruses..

Is it safe to come into contact with live pigs in nature reserves and the wildlife reserves?

So far, there are no known cases of swine flu in Singapore. However, proper hygiene practices, such as washing of hands after contact with animals, including pigs, should be maintained.

Vitamin C and the fishbone stuck in throat

Vitamin C prevent scurvy. everybody with basic health science knows that. But not every body know that Vitamin C can get rid of the fish bone stuck in throat. I have four experience. All of them, friends. One got it by chance. He was having a flu and I recommended him vitamin C, 500 mg sustained release. I have asked him not to swallowed it, but suck it in the mouth until it dissolve completely. In the evening he was supposed to take it, he got a small fishbone stuck in his throat. Drink warm water

It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

The Benzene that accumulates inside your car is a hazard to your health!

Open the windows after you enter your car

According to research done by a U.C., the car dashboard, sofa, air freshener will emit Benzene, a cancer causing toxin (carcinogen). In addition to causing cancer, it poisons your bones, causes anemia, and reduces white blood cells. Prolonged exposure will cause Leukemia, increasing the risk of cancer. May also cause miscarriage.

Acceptable Benzene level indoors is 50 mg per sq. ft. A car parked indoors with the windows closed will contain 400-800 mg of Benzene. If parked outdoors under the sun at a temperature above 60 degrees F, the Benzene level goes up to 2000-4000 mg, 40 times the acceptable level. The people inside the car will inevitably inhale an excess amount of the toxin.

It is recommended that you open the windows and door to give time for the interior to air out before you enter. Benzene is a toxin that affects your kidney and liver, and is difficult for your body to expel.

Dear colleagues, I am working in Blore Software City ....... I wanted to share an incident of my life with you, hoping that it may be an eye opener to you so that you can live more years.

On 27th October afternoon, I had severe heart attack symptom and I was rushed to the hospital.

After reaching to the hospital, the doctors prescribed a test called angiogram. This test is basically to identify blood flow of heart arteries. When they finished the test they found a 94% block in the main artery, please see the image below with red circle.

If you go to the market, you can see the pig's heart and from the heart, cut it layer by layer and you can see the arteries exactly like the humans.

At this point, I wanted to share my living style, which has caused this block in my heart arteries. Please see the below points of my life style, if any of these points are part of your life style then you are at risk, please change yourselves.

1. I was not doing any physical exercise for more than 10 years, not even walking 30 minutes a day for years.

2. My food timings are 11:00 AM Breakfast or no Breakfast, 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM Lunch and dinner at 11:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

3. Sleeping in very odd timings, going to bed between 12:00 AM and 3:00 AM. Waking up at between 9:00 AM and 10:30AM........ Some times spending sleepless nights.

4. I used to eat heavily because of long gaps between lunch and dinner and I used to make sure that Non-Veg is available most of the time, there were times when I did survey on city hotels to find delicious Non-Veg dishes. I was never interested in vegetable and healthier food.

5. Above all I was chain smoker from years.

6. My father passed away due to heart problems, and the doctors say the heart problems are usually genetic.

Once they identified the major block they have done immediately a procedure called angioplasty along with 2 Stints, mean they will insert a foreign body into the heart arteries and open the blocked area of arteries. Please see the below image after the procedure.


I learnt from the doctors that 60% people will die before reaching the hospital, 20% people will die in the process of recovering from heart attack and only 20% will survive. In my case, I was very lucky to be part of the last 20%.

Doctor’s instructions:

1. Need to have physical exercise for minimum of 45 minutes daily.
2. Eat your food at perfect timings, like how you eat during your school days. Eat in small quantities more times and have lot of vegetables and boiled food, try to avoid fry items and oily food. Fish is good than other non-vegetarian food.
3. Sleep for 8 hours a day, this count should complete before sun rising.
4. Stop smoking.
5. Genetic problems, we cannot avoid but we can get away from it by having regular checkups.
6. Find a way to get relived from the stress (Yoga, Meditation etc).

So I urge you all to please avoid getting into this situation, it is in your hands to turn the situation up side down, by just planning / changing your life style, by following simple points above.

Herbal treatment for High Blood cholesterol

I want to share a secret for treating high cholesterol.
Three weeks ago I went for a cholesterol check. To my surprise, it was above the normal range which should be less than 5.2 mmol/L. My reading obtained was 6.6.I had been consuming a lot of red meat and lamb recently. After consuming Mok Yee for two weeks, l had my cholesterol checked again and found that my cholesterol level fell to 4.70 mmol/L. My pharmacist said that even cholesterol medication will need 1- 3 months to take effect. She was very surprised and said it is a miracle.



Review:

I immediately followed an advice of a friend who told me about Black fungus (Mok Yee). He had four block heart arteries, over 90 percent blocked. His cardiologist advised him to go for bypass surgery, failing which he would suffer an imminent heart attack. His sinseh (chinese physician) friend advised him against surgery as the procedure would be messy, painful and expensive. He followed the advise of his sinseh friend by consuming Mok Yee daily. After consuming boiled Mok Yee juice for 40 days, he went for an angiogram.
His heart specialist was surprised and shocked that his arteries were all cleared of any blockage and it would not be necessary to see him for another 10 years!

My observation is that Mok Yee juice is not only effective in treating high blood cholestrol but also helps to bring relief to joint paints, arthritis and poor blood circulation.

The internet info. claims : that Mok yee reduces blood clot, preventing thrombosis, atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease, and cancer.*Black Fungus* contains abundant protein, ferric, calcium, vitamin, rough fibre, the *content* of protein is equal to meat.

Preparation:
1) Pick a hand full of Mok Yee and soak in water for 1-2 hours
2) Wash Mok Yee and cut to pieces with scissors.
3) Pour five bowls of plain water into slow cooker (crockpot)
4) Put 2-3 slices of ginger, 8-10 red dates, 20 kay chee (wolf berry) into crock pot.
5) Bring to boil for 8 hours. One and a half bowls of Mok Yee juice will remain after boiling overnight.


Consumption: You may consume for 10 to 14 days according to the severity of the problem. For those with low blood pressure consume less or only for alternate days. Drink Mok Yee first thing in the morning with an'empty stomach'. Consume at least one large bowl. Take breakfast 2 hours later.

Side effects - you may feel a little tired after 3- 4 days. Consume multi-vitamins and fresh fruits and vegetables daily. Do not eat oily or fried foods during this period.

Observation: Dark and oily stool during the first two days.

Remarks: Cholesterol medication is chemical in nature and may harm the liver. Mok Yee is a plant and does not contain chemicals.

【洋蔥可以預防膽固醇過高】
據哈佛醫學院心臟科教授克多格爾威治博士指出,每天生吃半個洋蔥,或喝等量的洋蔥汁平均可增加心臟病人約 30%的 HDL含量( HDL為高密度脂蛋白膽固醇,一種被認為有助於預防動脈粥狀硬化的膽固醇,也是一種的好的膽固醇。
每天生吃半個洋蔥,或喝等量的洋蔥汁,以保護心臟,這原是個民間偏方,克多博士在自己的診所裡對病人進行實驗,證明洋蔥確有提升好膽固醇的療效,不過洋蔥煮得越熟越不具效果。

【洋蔥可以分解脂肪】
克多博士讓診所裡的心臟病人每天吃洋蔥,結果發現洋蔥裡所含的化合物也能阻止血小板凝結,並加速血液凝塊溶解。所以當你享用高脂肪食物時,最好能搭配些許洋蔥,將有助於抵銷高脂肪食物引起的血液凝塊;所以說牛排通常搭配洋蔥一起吃,是很有道理的。

【洋蔥可以預防胃癌】
洋蔥和大蒜、大蔥、韭菜這些蔥屬蔬菜,因含有抗癌的化學物質,據研究人員在中國山東省一個胃癌罹患率很高的地方所做的調查發現,當洋蔥吃得越多,得胃癌的機率就越低。

【洋蔥可以對抗哮喘】
洋蔥含有至少三種抗發炎的天然化學物質,可以治療哮喘。由於洋蔥可以抑制組織胺的作用,而組織胺正是一種會引起哮喘過敏症狀的化學物質;據德國的研究,洋蔥可以使哮喘的發作機率降低一半左右。

【洋蔥可以治療糖尿病】
很久以前,洋蔥就被用來治療糖尿病,到現代,醫學也證明洋蔥確實能夠降血糖而且不論生食或熟食,都同樣有效果。原來洋蔥裡有一種抗糖尿病的化合物,類似常用的口服降血糖劑甲磺丁胺,具有刺激胰島素合成及釋放的作用。

【洋蔥還有其他多種療效】
洋蔥的妙用還不止上述這些,在日常生活中,洋蔥還可用來防治失眠:將切碎的洋蔥放置於枕邊,洋蔥特有的刺激成分,會發揮鎮靜神經、誘人入眠的神奇功效。

感冒的時候,喝加了洋蔥的熱味噌湯,很快就可發汗退燒。如果鼻塞,以一小片洋蔥抵住鼻孔,洋蔥的刺激氣味,會促使鼻子瞬間暢通起來。如果咳嗽,以紗布包裹切碎的洋蔥,覆蓋於喉嚨到胸口,也可以很快抑制咳嗽。
洋蔥是一般家庭普通的食物,用以炸、炒、煲湯都很可口,也可配以生果和蔬菜做沙拉,原來用作浸葡萄酒 (紅酒 ),更可治療很多常見的病。  

材料:洋蔥 2 個,紅葡萄酒 500 CC( 毫升) ,(1瓶普通紅葡萄酒配三個洋蔥 ) 。
製法:
一、將洋蔥洗淨,去掉表面茶色外皮,切成八等份約半月形。
二、將洋蔥裝入玻璃瓶內,加入紅葡萄酒, ( 將剝下來的外皮也一起加入效果更好 ) 。
三、將玻璃瓶蓋好密封,在陰涼地方放置約 2至 8 日。 (個人覺得一周最好 )
四、 將玻璃瓶的洋蔥片,用濾網過濾後,洋蔥、酒分開裝入瓶中,放置在冰箱中冷藏。

飲用方法:
一、每日約一杯 (50 毫升 ),年紀大的人每次 20毫升左右。
二、每日飲一至兩次。
三、浸過酒的洋蔥片一起食用更好。
四、不喝酒的人,可用兩倍左右的開水稀釋後飲用或每次倒入電鍋內煮約 4 至5 分鐘,蒸發酒精後飲用。
五、若喜歡甜的,可加入一點蜂蜜。

看到這是否覺得很容易呢? 究竟又可以治那些病呢?其功效對膝蓋疼痛、白內障、老人痴呆的效果相當驚人,日本非常流行。
一、高血壓患者,飲後血壓正常且安定,也會降低糖尿值,把血糖下降。
二、最妙的是 對老花眼也有很大的改善 ,飲用之後不用戴眼鏡也可以閱讀一般的周刊、雜誌。
三、每晚都要去幾次廁所的夜晚頻尿症,喝了兩天之後,不可思議的完全恢復正常。吃膩
四、每天夜晚醒後一直到天亮都不能再入睡的,不食安眠藥不能入睡的不眠症,飲用之後也會全消除。
五、眼睛疲勞和模糊不清 ,喝了之後第二天就沒有問題了。
六、對幾乎無法治療的 白尿症, 尿會混濁的喝了之後的也變得接近透明。
七、經常肚子會脹,非常痛苦的便秘症 ,喝了之後第二天便恢復正常排便。


個人心得 :
古人云: 食補勝於藥補,是藥三分毒,我們何不利用這物美價廉的洋蔥來保健我們的身體。屏東為洋蔥的產區,每當三月洋蔥產季(全年生,盛產期 2~ 4月) 到南部旅遊,經過屏鵝公路時,總會見到辛苦的農民在路旁賣著一袋袋的洋蔥,我們何不停下車來買一袋,既可照顧身體,又可幫助農民,何樂而不為呢。因本人還蠻喜歡下廚,而洋蔥也是本人最愛的食物之一,物美價廉。容易保存,無論生吃或是熟食都非常的美味,所以為大家介紹幾種個人最常使用之簡易食用方法,希望大家會喜歡 :

A. 冬天吃火烤兩吃火鍋時,烤肉配生洋蔥非常的對味,鮮甜香脆又多汁的洋蔥可平衡肉類的油膩感又帶點微辣,與烤肉一起在口中咀嚼的那種美妙滋味 .哇,真是絕配 !!

B. 吃膩了罐頭鮪魚 ? 只要加一些碎洋蔥,蒜末,醬油(中式) 或碎洋蔥,千島沙拉醬 (西式) 滋味立刻大不同,用來配飯或夾土司都很好吃。

C. 在吃康師傅炒麵 (或其他乾泡麵)時,切一些洋蔥絲與乾麵一起沖泡,沖泡完的湯汁加上隨附的調味包即成鮮甜可口的蛋花湯,而乾麵因有洋蔥絲的加持也變得美味無比了,特別是洋蔥絲那爽脆的口感只有親身試過

十穀米

去年夏天的一個半夜,劉哲豪和往常一樣上夜班時,肚子突然絞痛,而且排出大量鮮血,讓他差點暈倒。緊急送往三總急診,醫師告訴他是「直腸癌末期併肝轉移」。他開始接受治療,腸子切了十幾公分,前後開了四次刀,足足有七、八個月不能工作。在化療之後,臉與手腳全部變黑浮腫,連走路都有困難。

「醫師說我這種病起碼要二十年才能形成,冰凍三尺非一日之寒。我回想過去二十年,發現自己雖然滴酒不沾,卻超愛吃消夜,幾乎天天都吃,而且偏愛碳烤的東西,凡是天上飛的、地上爬的、海裡游的,我都喜歡吃,三餐沒有海鮮就吃不下,蝦子可以一次吃半斤一斤。經常半夜吃得漲漲的回家,看到大家都睡了,也倒頭就睡。這樣的日子過了十七、八年。」劉哲豪回憶說。

痛定思痛,他決定在吃的方面「痛改前非」,不該吃的不再吃,過去吃錯的,全部調整過來。他為自己擬了菜單,主食改吃十殼米,就是把糙米、黑糯米、小米、小麥、蕎麥、芡實、燕麥、蓮子、麥片、紅薏仁熬煮在一起,魚不吃,肉只吃一點點,蔬菜水果大量吃,飯後喝綠茶。他開始自己找資料,看書看報上網,最後斷定自己是吃了太多酸性物質,要讓身體健康,必須調整到鹼性佔七分,酸性佔三分。連吃兩個禮拜之後,他就發現自己體力變好了。後來他又增加了健康食品,包括蜂王乳、蜂膠、啤酒酵母、綠藻等,人更精神了,臉上手上的黑色素慢慢褪去,腳也不腫了,「連頭髮都變黑」。

恢復上班之後,同事們都說看不出來他曾經大病一場,許多人也學著吃十穀,有人多年嘴角破皮的毛病竟自然痊癒,有人解決了陳年疑難雜症。

劉哲豪說,他其實到現在還沒有康復,只是學會與癌共存,用最適當的飲食,讓身體保持最佳狀況。有時候,他會抽空探視一些與自己同病相憐的癌症患者,每個原本滿臉愁雲慘霧者,聽到他的心得報告後,都跟著調整飲食,「我這套提供給他們吃,每個人都有效。」他說。「不要每天就想著自己是癌症,我有個朋友的太太得了乳癌,本來沒什麼,但她天天憂慮,結果一年就死了。病本無害,是心裡做怪,路就走盡了。要把病當做一種挑戰,儘量調整自己去面對挑戰。」一場致命大病,劉哲豪似乎鍛鍊出獨特的意志力,也有一套豁達的生命觀。

十榖米
大陸少林寺果林老和尚,現年一百零三歲,仙風道骨。精神钁鑠,聲若洪鐘,健步如飛,貌似六十開外。有人求長壽之道,師父說:
「每日一碗十穀健康粥」。

作法1:
晚上時,將十穀米一杯用水洗淨,加水七杯,放入悶燒鍋內鍋中燒開再煮十五分鐘,放入外鍋中加蓋,翌日早晨上班前即可食用。可多煮一點,供三四天食用。

作法2:
晚上時,將十穀米三杯泡水4小時,放入電鍋中,再加水5杯煮成乾飯,待冷卻後,放入冰箱。翌日早晨上班前,取酌量加水四杯煮成稀飯。

備註:小孩子若因口感不喜歡吃時,可加入幾粒龍眼乾或葡萄乾。若不加糖進食時,可加茶葉蛋一個,風味絕佳,記憶超強,功課一級棒。

避免洗腎的秘方

各大醫院差不多設有「血液透析室」,裡頭布滿了各種大小粗細不一的管子,這就是洗腎的場所,將人體的血液經由靜脈通往機器,將身體血液中的廢物、有害物質清除,第一次被推進「血液透析室」。那種心情是複雜中帶些恐慌與無奈。
